Welcome to the Friends of St Margaret’s Church, Ifield
Who we are
The Friends of St Margaret’s are a group of people dedicated to the care of St Margaret’s Church – a grade 1 listed historic building at the heart of our community.
What we do
We raise funds for the repair, maintenance, restoration, preservation and development of St Margaret’s church and associated buildings, as wells as the fixtures, fittings and ornaments in the church, churchyard and associated buildings.
We work in close consultation with the church’s DCC to ensure that our funds are used in the areas of greatest need, and we rely entirely on the generosity of the public and surrounding community to do this.
The building which we care for is important to us, and to the surrounding community. Not only does St Margaret’s offer a place of beauty, peace and spirituality, but it also fulfils a significant pastoral and social role in our community.
Over the past years we have been proud to make financial contributions to various projects in the church, including:
Remounting of the North Porch Doors
New notice boards
Church survey and Architect fees
South aisle roof
Stonework and decoration
How can I help?
In addition to the round of regular, ongoing general maintenance and repair we also hope to support St Margaret’s in its development – including a new Audio/Visual system; improved internal and external lighting; restoration of the chancel; a new church hall; and improved access into church. Such development work will enable St Margaret’s to serve the wider community for generations to come.
You can help support this work by giving a one off sum, joining the friends in their fundraising efforts, or by leaving a gift in your will. All of these ways of giving can be very tax effective, and by filling out a gift aid form, HMRC will give us 25p extra for every pound that you give.
